Scholarships, Fellowships

A number of organizations in the pro-liberty movement offer scholarships and fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students committed to liberty. A list and brief description of such offers can be found below.

The William E. Simon Fellowship For Noble Purpose
- Summary: The Intercollegiate Studies Institute “has established the William E. Simon Fellowship for Noble Purpose to recognize graduating college seniors who are pursuing lives dedicated to and distinguished by honor, generosity, service, and respect. The fellowship is named for William E. Simon.”
- Award: $40,000, $20,000 and $10,000
- Deadline: Past deadlines have been in early January

Humane Studies Fellowships
- Summary: “Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) to students interested in exploring the principles, practices, and institutions necessary for a free society through their academic work.”
- Award: Up to $12,000
- Deadline: December 31

IHS Film & Fiction Scholarships
- Summary: “Film & Fiction Scholarships provide up to $10,000 to students pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree and who share an appreciation for the potential and promise of a free society.”
- Award: Up to $10,000

Hayek Fund For Scholars
- Summary: “The award is open to graduate students who intend to pursue academic careers and untenured faculty members whose academic work contributes to the understanding of the principles, practices, and institutions necessary to a free society or to the understanding of the classical liberal or libertarian tradition.”
- Award: Up to $1,000
- Deadline: Past deadlines have been in early September

IHS Summer Graduate Research Fellowships
- Summary: “Financial support for advanced graduate students, who share an interest in the classical liberal tradition, to work on a scholarly paper or dissertation chapter. Open to Law or PhD students.”
- Award: $3,000
- Deadline: TBA

Eric Breindel Collegiate Journalism Award
- Summary: Rewards “work which best reflects the spirit that animated the writings of Eric Breindel: Love of country and its democratic institutions as well as the act of bearing witness to the evils of totalitarianism.”
- Award: $10,000 and a paid internships at either Fox News Channel, The Wall Street Journal or The New York Post
- Deadline: Historically due in April
